Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus) – The Herb of Remembrance

Pungent, pine-like, and vibrantly green, Rosemary is a botanical of supreme clarity and cleansing. Ruled by the Sun and the element of Fire, its energy is solar, masculine, and intensely revitalising. It is historically one of the oldest incenses used by practitioners to "blast" away negative energy and to sharpen the memory of the spirit.

In magickal tradition, Rosemary is the "Healer’s Guard." It is used to protect the home from "theft" of the spirit—preventing unwanted entities or low-vibration thoughts from settling in. Because of its association with remembrance, it is also a premier herb for honoring ancestors and for keeping the mind "bright" and focused during times of high mental demand.

Magickal Correspondences:

  • Intentions: Protection, Purification, Mental Clarity, Remembrance, and Youthfulness.

  • Element: Fire

  • Planet: Sun

  • Chakra: Third Eye / Solar Plexus

Ritual Suggestions:

  • The "Clear Mind" Desk Ward: Place a small bundle of dried Rosemary in a blue or yellow pouch on your workspace to help "anchor" your focus and prevent mental fatigue during long hours of work.

  • Purification Sprinkle: Traditionally, dried Rosemary needles were scattered under the bed or in the corners of a new home to "wash" the space with solar energy and drive out any lingering "shadows" from previous inhabitants.

  • The "Door of Peace": Hang a sprig of dried Rosemary over your front door to ensure that only those with good intentions enter your home, and to keep "nightmares" or heavy energy from crossing the threshold.

⚠️ FOR RITUAL USE ONLY: This botanical is sold as a curio for spiritual and decorative purposes. It is not for ingestion and should not be used in food, drink, or as medicine. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
